Review : Zebra Z Series ZM400
Just one look tells you that the Zebra Z Series ZM400 is not your average label printer. It is designed for serious business. There is no doubt that this machine is built for commercial use. It offers a number of network connectivity options to make it simply integrate into your existing warehouse or manufacturing infrastructure.
This Z Series label printer is clearly designed for industrial applications. It can be connected to a computer through its USB port, or through a serial or parallel port. The printer can then be shared through that computer (as long as the computer itself is on your existing network). Alternatively, Zebra Net interfaces (Zebra Net Wireless Plus, Zebra Net 10/100 Print Server, and Zebra Net Print Server II) are available as options.
Once connected into your warehouse network, labels can be printed easily and quickly. Three resolutions can be specified with each job-203 dots per inch (8 dots/mm), 300 dpi (12 dots/mm), and 600 dpi (23.5 dots/mm). Each selection of resolution has a corresponding print speed-10 inches per second (254 mm/sec) at 203 dpi, 8 inches per second (203 mm/sec) at 300 dpi, and 4 inches per second (102 mm/sec) at 600 dpi.
The Zebra Z Series ZM400 also features a backlit liquid crystal display (LCD) panel for easy user control right at the printer. This machine is designed for global use, and the LCD menu items can be configured to display in fifteen different languages.
While the Zebra Z Series ZM400 is an industrial powerhouse right out of the box, it is also a platform that can be upgraded over time, minimizing the cost associated with new features and functionality, and also helping to protect your initial investment. At £976.40, you will want to make sure that your investment is going to be useful for some time to come.
